The beginning of April marks the start of Hong Kong’s infamous Rugby Week, with a whole seven days of rugby-related activities, culminating in the Cathay Pacific HSBC Hong Kong Sevens on April 6-8. Didn’t score tickets this year? Here are some other rugby events happening this week…
Apr 4-5: GFI HKFC 10s
A relatively laid-back precursor to the weekend’s action, the Tens tournament sees 16 teams from both Hong Kong and overseas hit the grass at the Football Club to battle for supremacy.
$500 on the door. www.hongkongtens.com.
Apr 6-8: Lee Gardens Fanwalk
Soak up the carnival atmosphere en route to the stadium at the Lee Gardens Fanwalk. There’ll be tons of family fun, including African drumming, acrobats, clowns and other entertainment.
Free.
Apr 5: Hong Kong Sevens Kick-off Concert
If you’re more about the party than the rugby, you can get into the spirit of the weekend with the Hong Kong Sevens kick-off concert, featuring UB40.
$288-$888 from Ticketflap.
Apr 6-8: HSBC Sevens Village and after-party
Located directly opposite the stadium, The Sevens VIllage promises a more mellow atmosphere, with outdoor seating, food stalls and games for the kids. You’ll catch all the action on the big TV screen. After the final whistle each night the venue plays host to the Sevens after party, with tickets available in advance or on the door.
