We check out the activity-filled family staycation at the W Hong Kong.
The Buzz: The summer holidays might be over, but it’s the perfect time to squeak in a staycation while the hotels aren’t as busy and the pools are still warm! The W Hong Kong “Soak up the Fun” family staycation package offers a ton of activities, and its West Kowloon location puts you within spitting distance of all kinds of kid-friendly attractions.
The Hotel: Our two kids loved the W for its quirky design and relaxed vibe. they particularly enjoyed the miniature candy buffet during check-in! The rooftop pool was large (bring a few floats as there’s no shallow end) and they spent hours leaping in and out of the water. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with a huge variety on offer, with plenty for the little ones to enjoy.
The package also offers your choice of either a 90-minute golf simulator session at the nearby Waterfall gym; or a visit to Sky100 where you can look out across Hong Kong from 100 floors up. We opted for Sky100. Being next to Elements you can also opt for the cinema, ice skating, outdoor dining at Civic Square, and the awesome public outdoor playground. Of course, the West Kowloon Cultural District Park is right next door too.
The room: we were upgraded to a one-bedroom suite, and were impressed by the thoughtful touches. The kids particularly enjoyed watching Cartoon Network in the tub, thanks to the mini television in the bathroom. We brought our own toothbrushes but we liked that the complimentary toothbrush was plastic-free.
The Verdict: for families with active kids to entertain, the W is a great option thanks to its great pool, abundant attractions and chillaxed vibe. It’s a thumbs-up from this fam.
