The Scoop: They’re not kidding when they call this tucked-away corner of Sentosa a cove: you really do feel like you’ve somehow managed to find a secret spot in the city state. The property, on the far southern tip of Sentosa Island, is about as remote as Singapore gets. The hotel is nestled inside a man-made jungle, while the massive pool overlooking the marina only adds to the resort feel.
The Crowd: Overstressed urbanites and holidaymakers in need of a crucial moment of peace from the rest of Singapore.
Wellness: The “AWAY Spa” is an oasis in the middle of the jungle. It’s all sleek curved lines and futuristic fixtures, and the vitality pools and massage showers really make it a spot you’ll want to linger. We went for an hour-long sports massage, and our attentive therapist masterfully unkinked our sore muscles. We extended our stay to include time in the steam room and vitality pool; and walked away after a few hours’ escape feeling totally renewed.
Best bit: We want to give a special shout out to the service. Logistically speaking, dealing with the AWAY Spa was totally stress-free: the service was impeccable, even when we had to reschedule at the last minute. The W even runs shuttles around Sentosa to reduce the stress of getting to the cove in the first place.
Bottom Line: If you find yourself in Singapore for more than a few days, the AWAY Spa at the W Sentosa Cove is a perfect respite. It’s hands-down one of the best luxury spas in the city state.
RATES: We booked the W Sentosa Cove through theluxenomad.com. Room rates hover around $2,000 but go up depending on your room category. Right now, the hotel is doing an Island Fling spa promotion throughout March and April, where you can get an hour-long massage and hydrating facial for SG280 (HKD 1,541, plus service charge and tax).
