Cheat Day: Louisiana Lobster Boil at Shangri-La Lobster Bar | Liv

Roll up your sleeves: the Island Shangri-La Lobster Bar is kicking off the New Year by launching a Louisiana-style Lobster Boil Sunday Brunch.

A parchment paper filled with lobster and shellfish, part of the lobster boil special menu at the Island Shangri-La in Hong Kong.

What is a lobster boil, we hear you ask? A Cajun tradition, it’s an informal meal where heaps of shellfish and sides are placed on sheets of paper, and everyone gets stuck in, eating with their fingers until only the shells remain. It’s a ton of fun, particularly when you factor in the Cajun live band that provides the soundtrack to your afternoon and the Bloody Marys mixed tableside.

Think Boston lobster, blue mussels, clams and prawns, served with spiced butter sauce, fries, garlic bread and salad, all washed down with free-flow Veuve Cliquot and Young Master Ales.

Save room for dessert: every guest gets to pick a decadent ice cream sundae to finish with. The lobster boil brunch at Island Shangri-La goes from noon-2:30pm for $898.

Lobster Bar, Island Shangri-La, 88 Queensway, Admiralty, 2820-8560.
